Well-researched and fascinating, like everything Rebecca Solnit writes! 5. Wanderlust: A History of Walking by Rebecca Solnit True story of a woman who nearly died in a winter accident on Mount Whitney and her later journeys to the Himalayas. If I Live Until Morning by Jean Muenchrath This summer found me reading everything Meloy I could get my hands on, and Turquoise is her most popular work (with good reason.) 3. If you love Terry Tempest Williams or Ed Abbey, you’ll love Ellen Meloy. The Anthropology of Turquoise by Ellen Meloyīeautiful essays about the desert and nature! Pulitzer Prize finalist. (Also, she’s friends with Cheryl Strayed in real life!) 2. Her achingly beautiful words on wilderness, dogs, love, and international adventure have me convinced we’d be best friends, or at least Colorado soul sisters. A Little More About Me by Pam HoustonĪ reviewer once described Pam Houston as “Bridget Jones meets Indiana Jones,” which is honestly goals.
